Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has named Major-General Farouk Yahaya as the new chief of army staff. Major General Yahaya, will replace the deceased Attahiru Ibrahim with immediate effect. Prior to this appointment, Major-General Yahaya was the Military Secretary, General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army in Kaduna and the current theatre commander of Operation Lafia Dole in the North East, Nigeria  Yahaya’s appointment comes six days after his predecessor Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru and ten other military personnel died in an air crash while on an official trip to Kaduna State. The military beliefs there must not be vacuum no matter what. 

Major General Ali Keffi has been appointed the acting Chief of Army Staff. Valid News gathered that he is a member of 38 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defense Academy of Mogadishu Battalion in the Academy before completing his cadet training at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in United Kingdom.  He is also an alumnus of Bangladesh Defence College.
