… Dangote Angry Because We Refused To Raise Price Of Sugar During Ramadan- BUA Aliko Dangote, leader and founder of the Dangote group has petitioned the Federal government, requesting that the BUA Sugar Refinery be shut down. Dangote Group, in a letter jointly signed by the Aliko Dangote and the Chairman, flour mills of Nigeria PLC, John Coumantaros, sighted by THE WHISTLER, said that the commissioning of the BUA Port Harcourt refinery is an act intended to undermine the National Sugar Master Plan of the Federal Government. The group noted that according to the mid-term review conducted by the national sugar development council, BUA has faulted by failing to invest substantively in local production of sugar. It called for investigations to determine the quality of raw sugar imported by the refinery in Port-Harcourt and the appropriate penalty in terms of duty (60 per cent) and levy (10 per cent) to be imposed on the company. Image
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has directed its members in the southeast zone to revert to the old price of N170 and N175 per litre. Mr. Chinedu Anyaso, Chairman of IPMAN Enugu Community Depot in charge of Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu States, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Friday. NAN reports that marketers in the zone adjusted their rates to between N210 and N212 on Friday which consequently threw customers into panic. The NAN correspondent who monitored the situation in Awka observed that most fuel stations were deserted, while long queues surfaced at NNPC mega station, which was yet to hike the price of petrol. Mr Victor Emeka, one of the marketers, said the downstream market was in confusion due to disagreeing with directives from NNPC and PPRA. According to Emeka, PPRA said we should sell at N212 while NNPC is saying it has not increased price, but the increase has been effected at the depots....

WhatsApp Introduces Private and Secure Desktop Voice-Video Calling

Image
WhatsApp is excited to announce that private and secure one-to-one voice and video calls are now available on WhatsApp’s desktop app. Throughout the last year we’ve seen significant increases in people calling one another on WhatsApp, often for long conversations. Last New Year’s Eve, we broke the record for the most calls ever made in a single day with 1.4 billion voice and video calls.  With so many people still apart from their loved ones, and adjusting to new ways of working,  we want conversations on WhatsApp to feel as close to in-person as possible, regardless of where you are in the world or the technology you’re using. Answering on a bigger screen makes it easier to work with colleagues, see your family more clearly on a bigger canvas or free up your hands to move around a room while talking.  To make desktop calling more useful, we made sure it works seamlessly for both portrait and landscape orientation, appears in a resizable standalone window on your computer...
