  By Kebonkwu Esq The Chief of Army Staff, General Attahiru Ibrahim was lured to their lair in the National Assembly chambers and brought within  killing range in  what apparently  appears to be an innocuous summon or invitation from members of the House Ad hoc Committee on Arms and Ammunition Control.  They baited him; and he swallowed the bait and the line with a dignified poise. Rather than go into the business of the day which we understand was explanation of purchases of arms and ammo during the tenure of his predecessor, the committee members demanded apologies from the General for not coming before the committee at an earlier invitation.   The General, who had explained the reasons for his inability to come earlier retorted in a calibrated language that he felt that an explanation was as good as an apology in the circumstances. Dangote Group, in a letter jointly signed by the Aliko Dangote and the Chairman, flour mills of Nigeria PLC, John Coumantaros, sighted by THE WHISTLER, said that the commissioning of the BUA Port Harcourt refinery is an act intended to undermine the National Sugar Master Plan of the Federal Government. The group noted that according to the mid-term review conducted by the national sugar development council, BUA has faulted by failing to invest substantively in local production of sugar. It called for investigations to determine the quality of raw sugar imported by the refinery in Port-Harcourt and the appropriate penalty in terms of duty (60 per cent) and levy (10 per cent) to be imposed on the company. Minister Denies Saying Nigerians Without NIN Could Be Jailed for 14 Years

  Communications Minister Isa Pantami has denied saying Nigerians who do not obtain their National Identification Numbers (NIN) could risk a 14-year jail term. The minister said he was quoted out of context. “This has been quoted out of context. Pantami has not mentioned “14 years imprisonment.” But said NIMC (National Identity Management Commission) has been 14 years in existence, since 2007,” he said in a tweet.
