Matthew Hassan Kukah, says President, Muhammadu Buhari has sacrificed the dreams of Nigerians on the altar of nepotism by allegedly pursuing Northern hegemony. Ministry of Power Illegally Smuggled N7bn Into its Account Without Appropriation — Senate

  The Senate has raised the alarm on how the Ministry of Power allegedly smuggled over N7 billion smuggled into the Ministry’s budget without an appropriation from the National Assembly. The Senate has observed that there was no evidence that such money was budgeted for in respect to the Hydropower Transmission Project in either the 2014 or 2015 fiscal year. Senator Matthew Urhoghide, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Edo South led Senate Committee on Public Accounts, raised the alarm on how the Ministry allegedly spent such amount of money without getting approval from the National Assembly in line with the law. The Committee is relying on the query raised by the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation in the 2015 report and brought before it for probe and subsequent presentation to the Senate at Plenary. ASUU STRIKE: Universities To Reopen In January 2021 – Ngige

  The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, says  Academic Activities in Nigeria Universities will start in all Nigeria Universities by January 2021. He says the negotiations between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal government had reached 98 percent, adding that it remains only two percent to be completed.  He said this on Monday in Alor, Idemili South local government area of Anambra State, during the launch of Ngige free medical outreach at the Community’s Health Centre. Nigeria to Begin Manufacturing Vaccines Soon - NAFDAC DG

West African giant  country of Nigeria will start manufacturing vaccines soon while adhering to required global standards. “With regards to the establishment of the World Health Organization’s global benchmarking and adoption of international best practices, we want to get to maturity level three so that Nigeria can manufacture its vaccines,” said by the Director-General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Mojisola Adeyeye. “We are upgrading the agency’s laboratories to international standards using equipment that are compliant to ISO 17025. NAFDAC laboratories are changing very rapidly with improvements in new equipment and supplies,” she added. Adeyeye noted that Nigeria aims to manufacture 70% of pharmaceuticals locally to cut down dependence on imports. 344 Kidnapped Kankara School Boys Released

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari confirmes the realease of 344 Kankara School Boys. It was furtther confirmed that the  released students are currently in Tsafe in Zamfara from where they would be brought to Kankara most likely today.  They are now in the Government house where the governor received them.  It was a day of happiness and joy for the Kankara boys as they were rescued from the hands of the terrorists.  According to a video released before their freedom, one of the boys mentioned how some of his colleagues were killed by Boko Haram. President Buhari Orders Reopening of Closed Land Borders

The President, on Wednesday, ordered the immediate reopening of four land borders hitherto closed. The Presidency made this known in a tweet today. “President Buhari has directed the immediate opening of four land borders: Seme, Illela, Maigatari, and Mfun,” @NGRPresident tweeted. Nigeria closed its borders in August 2019 to curtail illegal importation of drugs, small arms and agricultural products into country from neighbouring West African nations. List of Approved 203 Agents for NIN Registration

  The Nigeria Communication Commission recently announced a deadline of two weeks for all Telecommunication companies in Nigeria to block all active subscribers sim card that is not linked to a valid National Identity Number (NIN). This is part of the Federal Government's effort to build a Digital Identity Ecosystem for all Nigerians and also curb irregularities in the use of SIM cards. Most Nigerians have complained bitterly about the bottleneck involved in getting the NIMC or enrolling for NIN due to several breakdowns of systems and delays encountered.
