  By Kebonkwu Esq The Chief of Army Staff, General Attahiru Ibrahim was lured to their lair in the National Assembly chambers and brought within  killing range in  what apparently  appears to be an innocuous summon or invitation from members of the House Ad hoc Committee on Arms and Ammunition Control.  They baited him; and he swallowed the bait and the line with a dignified poise. Rather than go into the business of the day which we understand was explanation of purchases of arms and ammo during the tenure of his predecessor, the committee members demanded apologies from the General for not coming before the committee at an earlier invitation.   The General, who had explained the reasons for his inability to come earlier retorted in a calibrated language that he felt that an explanation was as good as an apology in the circumstances. Breaking News: NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER REGISTRATION EXTENDED

The ongoing National Identification Number and Subscriber Identity Module integration exercise has been extended by eight weeks, the Federal Government announced on Tuesday morning. It said the new deadline was now April 6, 2021. Director, Public Affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission, Ikechukwu Adinde, who disclosed this in a WhatsApp message to our correspondent, said the extension was conveyed by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami. Pantami conveyed the message during the meeting of the Ministerial Taskforce on NIN-SIM registration which held on the 1st of February, 2021. Your time is appreciated. It is no longer news that the NCC has given a two weeks ultimatum for all SIM cards to be linked to their National Identification Numbers (NIN), and failure to do so would result to SIM disconnection by the telecommunications companies. 344 Kidnapped Kankara School Boys Released

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari confirmes the realease of 344 Kankara School Boys. It was furtther confirmed that the  released students are currently in Tsafe in Zamfara from where they would be brought to Kankara most likely today.  They are now in the Government house where the governor received them.  It was a day of happiness and joy for the Kankara boys as they were rescued from the hands of the terrorists.  According to a video released before their freedom, one of the boys mentioned how some of his colleagues were killed by Boko Haram. National Assembly Extends NCC NIMC Number Linking By 10 Weeks

There has been confusion since National Communication Commission gave the directives of linking all SIM cards with National Identification Numbers within 2 weeks or risk losing the number. The confusion is about the possibility of meeting the deadline because of the population of Nigerian phone users and the short period.  But here is a good News as the Nigerian National Assembly in a joint session has made a resolution to extend the NCC NIMC number Linking by 10 weeks. List of Approved 203 Agents for NIN Registration

  The Nigeria Communication Commission recently announced a deadline of two weeks for all Telecommunication companies in Nigeria to block all active subscribers sim card that is not linked to a valid National Identity Number (NIN). This is part of the Federal Government's effort to build a Digital Identity Ecosystem for all Nigerians and also curb irregularities in the use of SIM cards. Most Nigerians have complained bitterly about the bottleneck involved in getting the NIMC or enrolling for NIN due to several breakdowns of systems and delays encountered.   The Federal Government has said that any telecoms subscriber who fails to submit his/her National Identity Number (NIN) to its network provider would be blocked from the network from December 31. This is just as the government reaffirmed its position on suspension of new SIM card registration across the country. This was part of the decisions reached at a stakeholders meeting convened by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami. This is contained in a statement signed and issued by the Director, Public Affairs of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Ikechukwu Adinde. At the meeting, the need to consolidate the achievements of last year’s SIM registration audit and improve the performance and sanity of the sector was discussed and all stakeholders agreed that urgent measures have now become inevitable to improve the integrity and transparency of the SIM registration process.
